Stage 1 is opened

The grant funding was replete and the Lions share of the work done on Stage 1 of the old growth forest at Cockpit. We decided it would be good to have an official opening and an afternoon tea to celebrate its completion. Officials, Landcare members & their families as well as members of the public were invited to afternoon tea.

A large ceremonial pine as well as a number of smaller trees were planted on the flat area inside the gate which runs parallel to the creek. Lou's grandmother Sylvia Nobbs awed the crowd by planting a couple of trees unassisted at the age of 96 years.

We had a wonderful afternoon tea and a sign was erected saying that this was a Landcare project funded by Envirofund. It was a great afternoon and well worth celebrating a job well done.

I did have some good pics - if I can track them down I'll add them in.
