The remnant forest on the hill behind was overgrown with woody weeds. The fence had long fallen down and cattle roamed through at will. To be able to do any major work we would need funding.
Our president at that time Warren Langman; applied for and received a Federal Envirofund grant for the first zone of this area. This enabled us to pay fencing contractors to re-fence, to buy poison and other equipment to get started on the job.
The actual zone was only a part of the hill - we sectioned it to be the hills directly viewed from the parking area. It was stage one.We had many working bees clearing woody weeds and other planting new native trees in the spaces cleared.
